Missing the mark.

I do believe I have rendered myself speechless. What do you say when you have 2 cards that completely miss the mark....not 1, but 2 cards that just do not comprehend the challenge? I'm laughing at myself....and patting myself on the back because I have it in me to share the carnage with all you fine folks.

So the challenge over on the Moxie Fab World was Old Country Christmas. I'm totally blaming my heritage for this one as I am 1/2 Mexican and 1/2 Czechoslovakian - - what do you do with that?? I know, I'm supposed to say Czech, but when I was born it was still Czechoslovakia and I don't get how you're supposed to get used to that sort of thing. It's like the college I went to - Holy Names College. And now it's Holy Names University. It'll always be HNC to me. But I digress. Even with pictures in Cath's post for this challenge, I still could not grasp the concept of how to translate Old World Christmas onto a card.

Onto the card bashing... So this first card, I remembered I had this little BasicGrey stamp set which I thought would be perfect for this challenge. And I still think the stamp set is, but I'm not sure about the colors. First off - Sweet Blush does not photograph well. Secondly, I think I was channeling my beloved Yaya and all those little crocheted doilies she had all over her house. Still not "Old World" - more like "back in the day" - ROTFL

This second card I actually like - challenge be darned! I've got Pink Paislee's Mistletoe & Co. papers in this very Americana card. I asked my husband if he thought this looked Old World and he said no, that it looked modern (I then kicked him out of my room) - ha. The bling goes against all things Old World, I reckon. And Americana is not what the challenge called for either. My in-laws would love this card however - he's a Vietnam veteran and they have a whole downstairs full of red/white/blue Americana stuff.

Well now, I guess I wasn't so speechless after all - ha.
Hope you hit all your marks today, and if you don't: hope you can laugh about it!

They probably aren't very old world, but I love them both! I especially love the second one! What a fabulous layout : ) The first is cute, but I think you have me thinking grandmother after you mentioned the doilies LOL!

The bling and Americana just has me laughing tonight. It's a great card, but Old World, not so much. How fun to have had a good time making cards and creating, though. And to get to kick your husband out of the craft room, even better. {kidding, kidding}
