Bountiful.

Morning, Girls!

We left Utah this morning headed down to Southern California for the business part of my trip. I am leaving Spark behind with such a full heart and incredible memories. Seriously girls, make plans to go next year - it was incredible and I would love to share the experience with you all. For real. Incredible. Teary when it was over...me and the 20 pounds I gained while there. Pictures to come next weekend when I get home and get them edited and all that.

Alright - on to today's real post....

Mary Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?
I'll tell you how ours is doing this year: it's not. We usually have an abundance of zucchini, peppers and tomatoes by now but this year - nada. I finally wrote the gardening expert at the paper and asked her what the deal was. Apparently we are not alone. Due to the wet/late spring, a lot of gardens are suffering. She gave me a tip on some fertilizer to try that might make them pop - we'll see how that goes.

But be that as it may, we only grow a few things and still have to buy fresh produce every week. I read on some of the local coupon blogging sites about this thing called Bountiful Baskets and that it was coming to our area. They have it in several western states so some of you may have heard of it, but I was excited. You pay $15 and you get what they say is $50 worth of produce. It's a co-op so all the money is pooled and they buy it wholesale.

I was soooo happy when my husband came home with:
(24) plums
(8) bananas
(6) oranges
(5) nectarines
(4) huge tomatoes
(2) heads of romaine lettuce
(2) stalks of celery
(2) mangoes
(2) yams
(1) crown of broccoli
(1) pound of green beans
(1) box of champagne grapes (the most delicate and sweet grape I have ever had!)

And while we're on the subject of a bounty, feast your eyes on this!

That would be part of the (40) Totinos pizzas that I bought...for 25-cents each. Now I get that Totinos pizza ain't gourmet or anything. But for a quick lunch on the weekends - for a quarter? Oh yeah. They were part of a promo that made them $1 each and then 50-cents each when you bought 10, and then I had coupons that took them down even more.

Have a bountiful Sunday!

Those produce programs are great - wish there was one down where I live now. It makes it easy to eat healthy. Then when you eat those Totino's pizzas you won't feel so bad. LOL
Drive safely!

My cousin participates in that thing here and has loved all of her produce. All we've had grow is tomatoes, and they are tasting yummy! But we've been fortunate recipients of lots of zucchini from neighbors ;) I love that!
