:: It's Another Giveaway - Cute Tape & Paper Temptress ::

Happy Day, Girls!
Today I've got a great papercrafting giveaway with some really good goodness up for grabs. I'm equally excited to be bringing both of these to you this week - so let's get started.

Japanese masking tape. It's all the rage right now, isn't it? Miss Glenda over at Cute Tape sent me a bunch of different tapes to play with. I guess they're officially called Japanese "washi" tapes, but whatever you want to call them, I love the texture of this stuff - it's soooo soft.

Here are a couple of lil' cards I made with some new washi....:

CuteTape2

(cardstock covered in tape, then cut out the flowers)

CuteTape1

(tape across the top and the bottom)

But you've got to check out this page to see all the different tapes she's got in the shop.

Cute Tape is giving one of my blog readers $35 to spend at their store.
*NOTE: Miss Glenda is on vacation so you can spend your booty after August 8th.*

But wait, there's more! I've got mad love for Paper Temptress. Paper Temptress was my first DT gig and I will forever be grateful to Miss Patricia for the opportunity. Her store has grown by leaps & bounds since I was working for her. She wants to share something with you too...:

silver package_0001

...a package of super hot Silver Lustre papers.
Beautiful, eh?
Can you just imagine the gorgeousness you can make combining Cute Tape pretty washi with some lush papers from Paper Temptress??

So here's the details.....:

Bon Voyage!

As you read this, my husband, the kids and I are on the road to Vancouver, British Columbia (that would be in Canada) to catch a ride on this baby:

Volendam

...that there is the ms Volendam. We're taking our very first cruise - a 7-day cruise to Alaska. Alaska! You know, that place where what's-her-name can see Russia from her house *giggles* Our goal is to visit all 50 states and since I don't fly, this is the only way we'll get to Alaska. Probably Hawaii too. But man that's a long cruise...lots of "at-sea" time. Baby steps.

We chose this cruise because of the route it takes. It's called the "Inside Passage" which should be calmer water, and you can see land almost the entire time. That all lessens the panic and the nausea factor. Like I said: baby steps. We've signed up to go gold-panning in Juneau. They guarantee that you'll get gold. Who knows, I could be filthy rich when I get back? *smiles*

CruiseRoute

So yeah. Off we go. NO INTERNET ACCESS until we get home. They have internet but it's like 55-cents per minute or something. And I ain't payin' 55-cents per minute to read e-mails from Build-A-Bear tellin' me to spend more money on my daughter, or Hobby Lobby sending me a coupon that I ain't even gonna be here to use - LOL No internet. That's some serious away/family time, isn't it? Should be special....we're all looking forward to it.

I've got some cards though...all made up to go live every day. And - I've got a giveaway or two coming up as well. You won't even know I'm not here! Just don't make a mess of the place while I'm gone.

Son, just for you.

Hey, Girls!

Just a quick Sunday card to share with you all.
Sundays are low-traffic days on the blog-o, so I'm not gonna write a novel - heh.
Patterned papers from Fancy Pants, the sailboat and heart pin are Fancy Pants too, burlap ribbon from Practicing Creativity Designs, and stamps by Papertrey Ink.

Have a great Sunday!

Celebrate!

OK...now this card makes me mad. And I'm gonna tell you why. So much has been said lately about the quality or the issues with the new Papertrey Ink inks. And I've tried to stay out of the fray because often times sharing your opinion is taken as an attack *eye roll*, so, I've chosen to stay out of some of those discussions. However, right here in my own little piece of the www. I will tell you: the new pigment inks are awful. Just awful. The colors are off, and the quality is just not good. I get better stamping impressions from Studio G pigment inks. Anyway - I guess PTI has made the decision to discontinue all inks and are working on a new new formula with a new manufacturer, and I hope it works out - because I do love to have my matchy-matchy.

Yeah...so that. But this card I {hearted} up until I stamped the blasted sentiment on it and got that blotchy impression. Oh I was so mad! I've got these million-dollar Prima gemstone leaves on there and it's ruined, ruined I say! My patterned paper is from BasicGrey. I bought the Manilla paper pack, it's very basic, along with the coordinating cardstock stickers an I've had a pretty hard time using them. I think I'm lacking mojo lately.

Hope your weekend starts of super fabby!

Happy birthday.

Happy Friday, Girls!

I know I say this all the time, but I am REALLY glad this week is over...more about why later *wink* I've got a birthday card that I made for my mother-in-law (her name starts with an S). Problem is, I sent her birthday gifts back home with her when they came to visit in May, and never got this card mailed off and now her birthday is done and over. So, I guess I'm waiting for the next S birthday to come along.

Patterned papers by BasicGrey, hardware from We R Memory Keepers, fun trims from May Arts & Webster's Pages, and my S is a sticker from October Afternoon.

With sympathy.

I needed a sympathy card recently and used the one I had in my stash and because these things can come up so unexpectedly, I thought I better get another one made to have on hand. I was lazy and literally worked with whatever was on my craft table or within reach. I had been working on some fall things for CARDs, so I had this maple leaf Nestie still out and opted to use it with this pretty My Mind's Eye patterned paper.

Happy birthday.

Happy Halfway-There Day, Girls!

Halfway-There Day is my thing. I invented it. Some people invented blog-o....peeps....tweeps (although I dumped Twitter)....but all those cool, fun little words and phrases. But Halfway-There Day is alllll me!

Ahhh the 70s. What's not to love about the 70s? I am indeed a child of the 70s and I do love all those "you know you were a child in the 70s if..." with things about Holly Hobbie....or wearing Dittos...or feathering your hair like Farrah - LOL I loved the 70s. Love talking about them, thinking about them, the music - all of it....love. So when I saw this little journaling spot by October Afternoon, I knew I had to do something with it...even add it to a taggie. And here we are. Patterned papers and stickers and journaling tag by OA...some fun stitching and great vintage trims to sort of age it up a little bit.

Loyal friend.

I'm not a pet person. Just not. Didn't really have pets growing up - well, my brother and I got puppies once, but they ran away...sorta (long story)....but anyway, just not a pet person at all. Never really had 'em and don't now. So I hesitated getting the Max & Whiskers paper and embellie collection from BasicGrey. Then I figured there would be a magazine call wanting cards with animals/pets or for kids and that I should get it. I do like the colors. And I do think it's cute. I just don't feel it - if you KWIM. And....we got new neighbors right behind us that have dogs...sounds like 20 little Chihuahuas because they are yipping all the time...so that's not helping.

Anywayz....another taggie...thinking kid-to-kid on this one when we get invited to birthday parties.

LoyalFriend_05_31_10

Have a great day, my friends!

Wedding wishes.

Hey Girls!

Hope you had a nice Father's Day weekend with your husband...or father....or just your family in general. We had a really nice weekend celebrating my husband...my son even made him some yum yum yum chocolate mousse!

Alright - still got more tags to share. Yup....and more after this - ha. This one I adore. Pretty Prima papers and chipboard, sentiment by Verve, and some pretty trims from all over the place.

World's Best Father.

Happy Sunday, Girls!

I reckon we're all busy today with our husbands and fathers, so I'll keep it short. I didn't get my card made until last night! - - and I'm not typically a last-minute kinda gal that way. But my husband and I were out of commission for a few days this week some some icky flu, and then it was my daughter's birthday which it seems like we've been celebrating for 2 weeks. Anyway - so I whipped this up last night just in time.

Hawaiian Shores cardstock - might be my new fave PTI color - patterned paper by American Crafts, a little sticker strip from BasicGrey, a little diecut from October Afternoon, some seam binding for some texture as I had to drag myself away from tying a big ol' bow down the side, sentiment from Verve stamped in my new best friend: Colorbox ink.

WorldsBestFather_06_19_10

Hope you have a really beautiful Sunday.

:: It's Another Giveaway - Bake it Pretty & CSN Stores ::

Good Evening, Girls!
I'm back tonight with a fantastic giveaway. One that will help you make every special occasion even more special with the perfect finishing touches. You've seen me use the candy and button molds from Bake it Pretty, and you've seen me use their vintage paper bags for birthday treat sacks, and I also use their burgundy gingham bags to package the card kits in my ETSY shop. I love all the different things they have in the shop - so neat, so thoughtful, and very affordable. One of those places that you can spend a little and get a lot of really neat stuff that will have you grinning from ear to ear when you are opening your package.

The girls at Bake it Pretty are giving one of my blog readers $15 to spend at their store.
You might pick up some of these fantastic cupcake cases.....

BakeItPretty1

....or some edible glitter. (I have the pink and the rainbow.)

BakeItPretty2

But let's not stop there. Remember just a little bit ago I mentioned that my friends over at CSN Stores were going to be giving away something as well? What about a little utensil set - to help you bake up all your bake it pretties?

CSNCalphalon

This Calphalon set
of utensils is also going with the $15 Bake it Pretty gift card. How 'bout them apples? You like? I like.

Thank you, Dad.

Happy Weekend, Dolls!

I've got a really clean (at least for me) card for Dad. I've made a lot of Father's Day cards this year...and since my father has passed, I don't need all that many. So this one I actually put up for sale in my fledgling ETSY shop and someone actually bought it and is giving it to their dad for Father's Day and that makes me really happy.

Happy Halfway-There Day, Dolls!

Guess what? - it's another tag day! Ha! This one is a little different - I used a Maya Road kraft envelope on some Scarlet Jewel cardstock, I've got some The Girls' Paperie patterned paper in there, a lil' adhesive ticket from My Mind's Eye along with some fun pearls and trims. A lot of different pieces on this one but I like the way it turned out.

Blow. Cake. First.

Hey, Girls!

Got another taggie to share with you all today. Are you surprised? You shouldn't be, I warned ya' *wink* This is a fun tag - me likes this one. I used some of that Coredinations embossed cardstock by Jenni Bowlin that you can file or sand off to get a different impression - I like that; and then my little owl paper is from Creative Imaginations topped with a lil' piece of a Jenni Bowlin bingo card.

Party time.

Happy Monday!

Monday - woooo! Yay! Rock on!! I figure if I write it all excited like that it'll make me feel better about it being Monday. Hmmm....that's not working - LOL

Alright - so this week here on the blog-o it's all about the gift tag. I love tags. I mean I REALLY love making them. And buying plain gift bags is so cheap and just so easy to dress up with a handmade gift tag. So yeah - a bunch of taggies comin' your way.

Let's start off with this party time taggie made with patterned papers and stickers from Echo Park Paper. Have you heard of EPP or seen this new line? It's their very first line and I heart it so. It's really fun to work with and I can't stop making things with it. So yeah - just a quick little taggie....and with some fun ribbons from Practicing Creativity Designs.

Cheers to a new week!

Grandfather just for you.

Happy Sunday!

It is Sunday, right? And it's NOT Father's Day, right? I'm so off. I thought Father's Day was today so I had 3 days of father/dad/grandpa cards all ready to go live and then my husband told me it was next weekend so I had to go and re-do everything. And I don't really have anything to share - yet - *wink* - so, you're getting a grandfather card anyway! And I'll tell you - because I thought it was Father's Day today, I had to hurry and get my father-in-law's package sent off and I didn't have a card made for him, so, I tore off the grandfather piece on this one and put a DAD on on there instead - LOL

GrandfatherJustForYou_04_07_10

Hope your Sunday is fabulous!

Saturday, June 12, 2010

Thanks.

Happy Saturday - wahoooo!

So much to do this weekend. Cards, laundry - the givens *wink* - then I have to bake bunches of cookies for my uncle's birthday and...I guess make more cards and do more laundry *giggles*

So this Pink Paislee paper pack - Bayberry Cottage. Hands down the most difficult paper to work with ever...at least for me. The colors...the patterns....just not me, I guess. I like the little pleated ribbons that they put out though - got a snippet of some right there on my taggie. And doilies. Doilies are in all over vintage cards and scrapbook layouts these days. I have trouble working with them too. Man, this card was rough from start to finish. Oh well...

Thanks_05_09_10

Hope your weekend starts off just super!

Untie the ribbons.

Happy Friday, Girls!

I am so happy Friday is here. Seems like the first full week after a short week just takes foreverrrrrrrrrr to go by, doesn't it? But the weekend's here and I'm so happy....don't even care if it rains more....just glad the weekend is here!

Got kind of a serious lookin' card to share with you all today. Not all bright and fun...but pretty enough, no? I've got some patterned papers from My Mind's Eye and a little piece of some Papertrey Ink patterned paper in there too, a great sentiment from Verve, and some stacked buttons and ribbon from PTI as well.

UntieTheRibbons_03_27_10

This sentiment to me is like a fancier way to say "life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get" - heh. Speaking of the unexpected. My friends over at CSN Stores want me to do another giveaway. Who doesn't love giveaways, right? And I just love CSN Stores - they've got over 200 online stores where you can find almost anything you need whether it be a sofa or a suitcase, a crib or a cookie sheet! Remember last time we did a little Rachael Ray lasagna dish for the giveaway. There'll be something equally cool coming from them soon *wink*

The Mad Hatter's tea party.

(This is my second post for today - scroll down for a new giveaway.)

Happy Monday!

This weekend was "the big birthday party" weekend for us. I had mentioned to you all before that a lot of the birthday parties we've been invited to this year - OK, ALL of them - have been at this indoor play structure place. Of course my daughter wanted to have her party there like all the other kids. So I call them up - and it's $350 for the kind of party that everyone else has had...if you want the souvenir water bottles it's extra, if you want them filled with candy that's more too, on top of all that you supply the cake or cupcakes...are you with me on this? I ain't doin' that. There's no way. And it's not all about the money, probably more than that is what kind of party I can throw my way *wink* with that sort of money - or less - heh.

So I wanted to just do it up, do one big party, go old school with a park and games, and have both kids invite their entire class. Because I have a boy and a girl I needed a theme that was suitable for both. And I wanted something current. Having just seen the new Alice in Wonderland movie not too long ago, I thought what about a tea party? Is that too girly? Not if I make it a Mad Hatter's tea party and sort of make it more fun than feminine. The Mad Hatter's table scene from the movie was fantastic, very Victorian and sorta girly, so I just had to make it less girly.

Without thinking of the party itself, like matching it, I made the invitations. I was a little late, so I just went with the first idea I had. True Black cardstock, Pure Poppy ribbon, and buttons from Papertrey Ink, playing cards from Target, and then printed out and stapled on the information panel.

TeaPartyInvite

Then I went to the thrift store. There is an outlet thrift store near my office, so I went by there one afternoon. I found random tea cups and plates, about 10 things, they charge you by the pound - cost me less than $3. Beyond that, I knew the tablescape (totally stealing Sandra Lee's word) was going to be messy and fun - like it was in the movie - and my plan was to work with things we had in the house and spend nothing else on decorations. So literally the night before the party I rummaged through the linen closet and put together my theme. Matching the invitations happened then. I used a red tablecloth and a white one, draped those across the tables, and then in the center I had a black and silver spider web one and then threw down a lacey one too.

TeaParty11

On top of my tablecloths I randomly placed red cloth placemats, and white ones, and black ones, just for some more texture and color - kinda like I would on a card - LOL See those cute lil' bon bons in that teacup? They were not a crowd pleaser. They look pretty, but they are hard candy - guess I didn't read the fine print and the kids did not like them - sorry!

TeaParty12

I'm one of those people who shops clearance - big time. I had the card-themed napkins and black paper plates in my stash of paper products. No expense there - love it. And that red ribbon is Michael's Christmas clearance that I've had in a pile in my room that needs to go out in to the garage; I just ran a couple of strips from end to end of the table.

TeaParty13

I didn't cook/bake a thing. This is where I probably could have saved more money, but, I'm all about convenience. So I picked up cakes at Cost Plus and cut them up, cookies at the local bakery, and the chocolate covered rice krispie things are from Cost Plus too. Lots of sugar on this table so I threw some Goldfish crackers, chips and white cheddar popcorn out there too.

TeaParty7

My vision was to put the cake pieces on this cupcake stand that my husband got me for Mother's Day. But when I opened it and saw that it was wirey and not like flat tiers, my vision was gone *tears* I still wanted to use it, I liked the look of it and the height, and found that these little pop cans fit perfectly. They aren't full size cans, they're new thinner/shorter ones.

TeaParty8

That stand with the heart is right out of my living room. I suppose I should move on from Valentine's Day....but if I had, I may not have thought to use this *giggles*

TeaParty6

And this little clock...the kind with the dome, but no dome - that was in the box that I picked up from the thrift shop; cute little addition, don't you think?

TeaParty9

I love this picture. My daughter made me get those gummy raspberries when we were at Cost Plus and I'm so glad we did - they look fantastic on the table and the kids really liked them. I bought those little clothespins on ETSY - I was her first sale. I just liked them - they weren't bought with the party in mind - but when we put the random leftover cards out, I thought clipping the clothespin on would be cute. The girls put them in their hair - it was adorable!

TeaParty14

That's my son...the redhead. Don't ask me who the boy in the blue shirt is. Seriously. He crashed the party. Doesn't even go to the same school. Couldn't get him to leave - politely - so we just rolled with it.

TeaParty4

That's my daughter - redhead too. Pretty dress...hard to get a decent smile outta that girl though.

TeaParty5

And there's Alice and the Mad Hatter! She's actually the drum major for the Boise State Marching Band. I work with her brother - I asked him if he knew anyone....and it was so easy. She was wonderful. They were wonderful - and cheap. They even brought and ran all the games, they did the whole present thing, coordinated pinata time, just fantastic - - and they weren't even "professionals"!

TeaParty3

My mom bought the pinatas - teapots; 2 of them. One was full of trinkets, the other full of candy. Because after an hour of sugar, that's what kids want, right? More candy.

TeaParty1

I bought these treat sacks a long time ago from Bake it Pretty - they were in my paper product box and I thought they went well with the theme too.

TeaParty10

Still smiling at the end of the party - a really great time.

TeaParty2

I'm a stickler for thank-you notes. I may not get my own personal ones mailed out on time, but they get out eventually. And I think it's important that the kids learn at an early age the importance of sitting down and hand-writing thank-yous. I whipped these up after the party - you know how much I love mass-producing *eye roll* Summer Sunrise and Rustic Cream by Papertrey Ink, the little thank you is from PTI as well, patterned paper is by Cosmo Cricket.

TeaPartyTY

Hope you enjoyed our little party!
